A lost child – a parents nightmare. I have partnered up with Dr. Kendra Thomson at Brock University to evaluate a parent training package on teaching parents how to teach his/her child with autism what to do if they are lost.

According to the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are now 1 in 68 children diagnosed with autism. Unfortunately for half of the parents who have a child with autism, they are also always concerned for his/her safety because he/she may have a propensity to wander. Aside from the concern for his/her child’s safety, every minute, of every day, many parents are suffering from sleep deprivation and are finding it extremely stressful to deal with the wandering.

If you are interested in hearing more about the parent training package, please click here. We are actively recruiting parents so please reach out if you think it would be something you might be interested in participating in.

There are now more resources than ever that a parent needs to know about if they have a child with autism who wanders. Check out my article in the Huffington Post on autism and wandering for tips and tools that you can use to keep your child with autism safe.
